Labor Pain Tracker: Am I in Labor or Is It a False Alarm?
The final weeks of pregnancy are filled with anticipation and every twinge can feel like “the moment.” But when the pains start, the biggest question is: “Is this real labor, or just practice contractions (Braxton Hicks)?”
The best way to tell the difference is by tracking the pattern. The Divakar’s Speciality Hospital Labor Pain Tracker is designed to help you easily time your contractions so you can decide with confidence whether to stay home or grab your hospital bag.

How to Use This Labor Pain Tracker
When you are in pain, you need something simple. We have made this tool incredibly easy to use. Just listen to your body and tap the buttons:
Step 1: When the Pain Starts
Wait until you feel your belly tightening and the cramping sensation begin. Tap the big green “TAP HERE When pain starts” button immediately.
Step 2: When the Pain Stops
Try to breathe through the contraction. As soon as you feel your belly soften and the pain fade away, tap the orange “STOP” button.
Step 3: Repeat and Relax
Keep doing this for at least 4 to 5 contractions. The tool needs a few data points to see if a pattern is forming. In between pains, try to relax, drink water, or walk around.
Understanding Your Results: Is It Time to Go?
The tracker will list your recent contractions, showing how long they lasted and how far apart they are.
The “False Alarm” (Braxton Hicks)
You are likely in false labor if the tracker shows:
The contractions are irregular (e.g., one is 10 minutes apart, the next is 25 minutes apart).
The pain stops if you change position or walk around.
They aren’t getting progressively stronger.
The “Real Deal” (True Labor)
You are likely in active labor if the tracker shows a consistent pattern. Look for the “5-1-1 Rule” (a general guideline, though doctors may vary):
Contractions are about 5 minutes apart.
Each one lasts for about 1 minute.
This pattern has been happening for 1 hour.
Note: If our tracker detects a consistent, frequent pattern, the screen will turn RED and instruct you to call the hospital.
Forget the Tracker and Call Us IMMEDIATELY If:
(Do not wait for a timer pattern if you experience any of these emergency signs)
- Your Water Breaks: Especially if the fluid is green or brown.
- Heavy Bleeding: More than just a little “bloody show” mucus.
- Reduced Baby Movement: Your baby is unusually quiet.
- Severe, Constant Pain: Pain that doesn’t go away between contractions.
